CBi interfaces with Information Design leaders at Vision Plus in India

The National Institute of Design in Ahmedabad, India was the scene of CBi’s speaking engagement at the 14th Vision Plus, an internationally-recognized series of conferences dedicated to all aspects of Information Design, from December 13 to 15, 2010.

With Communities, Healthcare and Mobility the themes of the conference, CBi was asked to share its experiences bringing design research to bear on these fields in China, as well as give perspectives on the role and challenges facing Information Design in the country’s business landscape.

Representatives from 14 countries came together to discuss Information Design and engage with the 30 insightful presentations.

Thought pioneers joining CBi founder Cathy Huang and CBi managing partner Rudy Wimmer as speakers included iconic pictogram designer Yukio Ota, design thinker and independent academic M.P. Ranjan and conference chair Andreas Schneider, all of whom shared unique perspectives based on their experience evolving the practice of Information Design. 

“Today and in the future, Information Design plays a very important role in bringing societies, technology and information closer,” said Rudy Wimmer. “As humans, we can not always see and more importantly understand the effects of our own actions. Information Design truly helps to bridge this gap. Done correctly, it can empower us to make information emotional, understandable, relevant and more useful.” 

“The mix of speakers and the dynamic audience created an environment conducive to learning and growing our own perspectives. We also learned more about India and the people who make it such an amazing and special place,” he added.

Initiated by the International Institute for Information Design in 1995, Vision Plus became a regular get-together not only for the world's Information Design experts but also a growing audience of representatives from businesses, governmental and non-governmental organizations, and academia.
