The reason is that the logic behind car buying has already changed.
Some people replace their car because the old one can no longer fit all their camping gear.
Some want their children to sleep comfortably in the back seat.
Others simply want a quiet place to sit for a while after work.
A car is no longer just a means of transportation.
It has become a mobile space that carries lifestyle experiences, identity, and emotional value.

Based on this understanding, China Bridge has developed a core methodology:

Instead of asking only:
“What can the vehicle offer?”
we ask:
“What kind of life does the user want to live?”
Take a recent SUV project we conducted for Dongfeng Motor as an example.
The central challenge was how to balance urban commuting with outdoor lifestyles.
Rather than creating a generic list of user needs, we applied a two-dimensional framework combining:
user journeys + scenario slicing
to uncover what users actually needed in context.

We focused further on family users and younger exploratory consumers.
Through focus groups and contextual in-depth interviews, we reconstructed vivid snapshots of their real lives.

We then mapped usage around two dimensions:
travel radius + purpose of use
From this, four major vehicle-use scenarios emerged, followed by a more precise identification of differentiated, high-frequency situations such as:
weekend camping;
short-holiday road trips;
and other recurring lifestyle scenarios.

Once we went deeper, the insights became much more specific and vivid.
Weekend camping is not simply about fitting more equipment into the vehicle.
Users also need storage that makes parent-child interaction easier, together with reliable food preservation outdoors.
A short-holiday road trip is not simply about having enough driving range.
Parents also need entertainment that can keep children occupied on the road, as well as a comfortable environment where the family can rest whenever needed.
What users want has never been a collection of isolated features.
What they want is a complete loop in which functional fit and emotional satisfaction come together within a real scenario.
Here is one example of what scenario deep-diving can look like in practice.
During a camping trip, a single tap activates Camping Mode, transforming the vehicle into a mobile living room.
The rear entertainment screen starts playing cartoons.
The refrigerator keeps drinks chilled.
A roof-mounted projector turns the campsite into an open-air cinema.
While driving, five-layer acoustic glass and active noise cancellation create library-level quietness, keeping outside noise at bay so children can sleep peacefully in the back seat.
The same vehicle supports both the freedom of outdoor adventure and the comfort of resting on the journey there.
That is not simply a collection of features.
It is a complete lifestyle scenario.

Cross-industry collaboration between automakers and home appliance brands to create a connected human–vehicle–home smart ecosystem is another example of scenario-driven innovation.
This is not simply about adding functions together.
It is about connecting the smart mobility ecosystem with the smart home ecosystem, extending isolated technical capabilities into complete contextual experiences.
You get into the car and casually say:
“Leaving Home Mode.”
The lights at home switch off automatically.
Before leaving work, you remotely adjust the temperature at home.
By the time you arrive, the room is already comfortably cool.
Integrated human–vehicle–home services move from a futuristic concept into everyday life.

Function Reconstruction: Make Every Technology Solve a Scenario Pain Point
Once users and scenarios are understood, the next step is function reconstruction.
Every function should respond precisely to a specific need within a real-life situation.
Think of it as solving a problem.
First, identify the most important pain points in representative scenarios such as family travel or business reception.
Then break those needs down further.
Clarify the fundamental requirements of urban driving while also defining more advanced expectations related to quality of life and individual expression.
This means abandoning the old logic:
“We have the technology, so let’s build a feature around it.”
Instead, the logic becomes:
“Given this scenario, what solution — and what combination of functions — should exist?”

The traditional automotive organization, where each department focuses on its own isolated area, can no longer keep pace with the interconnected and rapidly changing scenarios of real user life.
Today, competitiveness is being reorganized around the scenario itself:
Use scenarios to define the product.
Make technology serve the scenario.
Extend service wherever the scenario continues.
At its core, this competition is becoming a battle for the right to define the scenario.
The winners of the future will be companies capable of placing user scenarios at the center, rapidly integrating resources, and continuously delivering complete end-to-end experiences.
Future growth will inevitably come from a fundamental transition:
from selling hardware to operating the life around the vehicle.
Go deep into real-life scenarios.
Build an ecosystem of mutually reinforcing experiences.
That is not only a way through today’s intense competition.
It is also a fundamental path toward sustainable growth.
