The seminar of Industrial Design 2008 Development & Management was held at Shanxi Business Hotel Shanghai, on 9th and 10th of April. CBI's representative made a speech on "The Birthplace of Innovation", analyzed and gave the future of design management in China which aroused great interest among the participants.
Nowadays, China's manufacturing industry mostly serves for domestic market, facing to the people who do not have the concept of consumer design; and overseas brand which make the industry short of branding and marketing idea. For extricating from the problem, manufacturing industry must transform from OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) to ODM (ORIGINAL DESIGN MANUFACTURER), and develop to the ODM (Original Brand Manufacturer). As China has increased the power of protecting the intellectual property right, institutional environment is better and better, and Industrial Design has become an important means of improving the competence of products and promoting the image of brand. This seminar aimed to explore brand marketing in industrial design, with the shared experience by successful designers and entrepreneurs, discussing how the design department cooperate with the manufacturing department efficiently and push "Made in China" to "Design in China".
