Shanghai Design Biennial 2006
September is destined to be a busy but happy month!
With the theme of "Better Design, Better Life" , Shanghai Design Biennial (including forum, seminars and exhibition) opened its gate on Sept.14, 2006.
As the co-organizer of this event, Cathy Huang, president of CBI was invited as the keynote speaker in the Design Environment session. CBI also helped invite a group of celebrities of industrial design come to this event as speakers or guests, like Mr. Shikuan Chen, design director of Philips Design, Prof. Carl Gyllenhoff of Denmark Design School, Kumo Chiu, former design director of Motorola Asia Region and many others.
During the 3-day event, Cathy Huang enjoyed fruitful talks with John Howkins, Chairman of ITR Creative Consultants Ltd (also known as the Father of Innovation in Great Britain); Kenji Ekuan, the chairman of GK Design Group; Hartmut Esslinger, founder and CEO of Frog Design; Thomas Lockwood, newly-elected president of Design Management Institute. As the hostess in Shanghai, Cathy really experienced 3 busy days of inspiring communications. Busy, but happy.
Shanghai Design Biennial had received registrations from over 10 countries including Italy, U.S.A, Japan and Australia. Totally more than 50 speakers delivered their speeches and 30 of them were from abroad. The exhibition hall reached 6000 square meters, in which 75% were international exhibition area. 90% of the exhibits appeared first time to the general public.
